“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.”

Sassy Sienna

Is it really already Thursday? This week has gone by quickly but that is probably because we are having lots of fun. Before I start the post, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLIE!! We love you.
.
This week has been so much fun but there has also been a little bit of drama. Sienna is going through a little sassy stage and she hasn't been the nicest to me. Monday and Tuesday she wanted nothing to do with me and said, "I don't love mommy." When Matt got home from work it only got worse. "I'm not listening to mommy" or "I want to share with Daddy and Sadie, not you mom" and I woke up Tuesday morning to her saying, "Daddy, you're yes-yes. Mommy is no-no." Everyone knows that Sienna is a daddy's girl and I am 100% okay with that. In fact, I love it because I am a daddy's girl and I would give anything for Matt and Sienna to have the relationship that I have with my own dad. With all of that said, it was starting to frustrate me. I didn't cry or get too sad about it because I know that Sienna loves me and we're great buddies but I was nervous that it wasn't going to stop anytime soon and that I was going to have to deal with this sass for a lot longer than I am willing to. I felt like if I punished Sienna or sent her to timeout it would only give her more reason to be upset with me but I couldn't throw all of the rules out the window. I just kept telling myself to be patient and keep reminding Sienna how much I love her. Matt was a big help too. As tempting as it was to laugh at a lot of the things that she said (because we all know that Sienna is HILARIOUS), Matt was very good at saving the laughs until after Sienna was in bed and he explained to her over and over again that it is not okay to talk to mommy like that. I am happy to report that things have gotten much better. Sienna will still get short with me occasionally but the past couple days have been filled with a lot more, "Mommy, I love you SO much" and "I'm listening to mommy." This morning Sienna was awake before Sadie and she cuddled up on the couch with me while we watched a show. She really is one of the sweetest girls around and I am so grateful that she has decided to be sweet to me again too. Here are some pictures from yesterday that just make me smile. One thing is for sure- Sadie is Sienna's best friend. These two are peas in a pod and they do everything together.
.
Sadie stood like this for about two minutes without moving. It looks like she is ready to do the limbo.

Looking at her cute new shoes!

Silly girls.

Look at her go.

Coloring with Joci.

Last night right before Matt came home the girls and I went back outside to play for a bit. Sienna thought it was hilarious pushing Sadie around in the doll stroller. Sadie loved it too and pointed most of the way.

I love how Sadie's legs are straight out in front of her.

Such a good big sister. As much sass as she has given me- she is so sweet to Sadie.

I need to put Sienna on her bike more often. She is starting to get the hang of pedaling.

Of course, they had to spend some time eating the grass and digging the dirt out of the sidewalk cracks before we could go back inside. I love my girls. They make me happy, they make me smile. I'm glad we are all friends and I am mostly glad that they are such good friends. Sienna is always trying to help Sadie be bigger than she is and do things she probably shouldn't be doing yet.

Popsicles

A 95 degree day definitely deserves a treat. Yesterday was so hot and we needed a cool break from the sun so we decided to bust out the popsicles. These are 100% juice too and they were delicious. Sadie had apple juice and Sienna's was a berry mix. Yum Yum, summer tastes good too.

Sadie and Sienna eating popsicles together.

Sadie playing around while Sienna wouldn't stop eating it for one second.

I am looking forward to sharing many popsicles this summer.

It was a little cold for Sadie at first but she got the hang of it and dove right in.

"I want more!"

Sienna got to the end of hers and was trying to suck it like a straw.

She got it! I must add that she didn't get any purple stains on her clothes either!!

More Pool Time

We have gone swimming every day for the past week except for Sunday. Usually it is after work when Matt gets home and the sun has gone down. This summer has started off in the right direction!!!
.
This picture catches how the girls are ALWAYS teasing each other. Sadie kicking Sienna in the head while Sienna tickles Sadie's leg. They are so funny to watch. Yesterday, Sadie stole some of Sienna's snacks and started crawling away very quickly. Sienna was on her tail crawling after her and when she caught up to her she grabbed her feet and dragged her backwards across the rug. I love watching them tease each other and having them both break out in laughter.
.
Our friends Tara and Sophie came swimming with us yesterday. I bet you wouldn't guess that Sophie is half Sadie's age. Yep, Sadie is 11 months this week and Sophie is only 5. My girls are itty bitty.

We're still waiting for those rays to kick in and give us some color. We are having so much fun at the pool and we were able to make it out twice yesterday. Once during the day with our friends and then again when Matt came home from work.

New Camera

A combination of a new camera and my funny kids made me a little picture crazy today. I am completely in love with both the camera and my girls. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Sienna and Sadie eating some chips before church. (I apologize for the date, both it being incorrect and showing.)

Smiley Sienna

Sadie laughing at Sienna.

Do you like Sadie's ponytail?

Sienna is a little exhausted.

.
Sadie is so close to walking. She took a step while standing in the middle of the floor by herself but this video is of Sadie dancing by herself.

If you listen closely you can hear Sadie saying, "dance, dance, dance."

Tic Tacs

Sienna: "Mine!"
Me: "No, It's not yours. It's mommy's. Do you want mommy to share with you?"
Sienna: "It's mine."
Me: "Sienna, these are mommy's, do you want me to share with you?"
Sienna: "They're not mine, they're not yours, they're ours!?"
Me: "Yes, they can be ours."
I had no idea she knew ours.

It isn't every day you get to see a sad or upset face on Sadie, so here is one for fun. This picture was actually taken in Austin last weekend at a restaurant. Sadie was standing in her high chair and I wouldn't give her something she wanted.

This morning Sadie threw her first little tantrum and I could do nothing but laugh. It was hilarious. She was playing with a toy drum set that can either roll around or you can adjust it so it is stand up drums. She was hitting the drums watching them play music when all of a sudden she got upset for some reason. She started shaking the drum out of frustration, pushed it away and then lied flat on the ground with her face buried in the rug and her legs kicking. Again, I couldn't stop laughing.

Sadie is getting really good at balancing. Yesterday, Allie had Sienna and Sadie walking through the kitchen together holding hands. Sadie has great balance and can stand alone but she doesn't walk unassisted. This morning we were playing outside on the driveway and we looked over at Sadie and she was standing on her own crouched down but her bottom wasn't touching the ground. There wasn't anything or anyone around her to balance on. It was so cute. I will put a video of her walking with the stroller soon.

Park

Sienna asks to go to the park every day. It is one of our favorite things to do in the morning. Here are some pictures from a trip to a near by park with some friends last week.
.
To make more room for everyone to swing, Sienna and Sadie rode together. They both thought it was so fun but after a few minutes Sienna said, "Mom, Sadie wants to get out."

Joci was thrilled when Sienna was done riding tandem with Sadie and wanted a turn herself. Everybody wins. Sorry about the quality of the picture- I need to clean my lens and we are looking at new cameras. We're looking into a Cannon ELFP.

My good friend Tricia and her beautiful Kaley Belle (wrapped in a quilt from my mom!).

Sienna on the big girl swing. She loves underdogs but I still get too nervous to push her too high on the real swings.

I love this picture even though it is far away. Left to right: Sadie, Joci, Audrey, Sienna. I love the summer and look forward to many trips to the park and pool.

Another video from our ride home from Austin. Sienna was telling us about how much she loves Sadie and that Joci and Audrey are her best friends.

Weekend in Austin

This weekend Matt and I took the girls to Austin to go to a friend's wedding. The wedding wasn't until this morning but we decided to drive down yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and hang out. Austin is absolutely gorgeous. When I thought of Austin in the past I just pictured a party city but it was beautiful. It is so green with trees and lakes everywhere. It actually has mountains too. Our friend's wedding had the most beautiful view looking down over thousands of trees surrounding a lake with tons of villages and estates surrounding it. We had a fantastic weekend full of sight seeing, eating out, swimming, sleeping in and going to our friend, Erica's wedding.
.
Sienna sitting in front of the State Capitol building in Austin which is a replica of the National Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

Sienna showing me where the star was at the top of the ceiling. The building was so pretty inside and out. Sienna loved walking over the different maps and pictures on the floor. The rest of the pictures inside came out too dark so I don't have any to show of Sienna walking around the letters. She would walk circles around the center of the building naming all the different letters that she was stepping on. I wish I had pictures of the columns and levels of the inside, it was so pretty.

The family inside the Capitol Building.

Standing underneath the giant star in front of The Texas State History Museum. After visiting and walking through the Capitol we decided it would be fun to go through the museum. It was really neat reading the history of Texas and seeing and hearing different facts about the area. Matt and I would love to go back when it is just the two of us and we have more time to go around to different areas and sites but we had a lot of fun with the girls.

We ended the night with eating at Green Mesquite. We found this restaurant on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the FOOD network. Matt and I watch that show all of the time and always end up craving a big juicy burger or some awesome BBQ late at night. We love family owned, mom and pop, or places that might seem a little questionable but end up being the best around. After eating, we finally went to the lodge and hopped into the pool for a little while and then went to bed. This morning we went to the wedding and spent some time at the reception before heading home. I wish we had pictures from the wedding. It was the most amazing view and the girls looked pretty darn cute too. We had to ditch the reception early though because they were getting exhausted. It was very hot and they were pretty tired. We thought it was best to start driving so they would sleep the majority of the drive home, and they did! Oh, I failed to mention that at the beginning of the wedding ceremony as soon as everyone became silent to watch the bride and groom walk up the aisle, Sienna stated very loudly, "Daddy, I need to go poops!!" At least it was followed by, "She's sooo pretty" talking about Erica. It was such an enjoyable weekend and I think we're going to start going away for the weekends more often.

It is so hard to say no to these puppy eyes. She was asking Matt if we could go to the park on the drive home and we were trying to explain that it was Sunday and we were just heading home. She got the biggest puppy eyes out and starting begging, "please, please daddy, I want to go to the park." I grabbed the camera in attempt to catch her doing it again. It isn't as fresh but she continued to ask for quite awhile.
