Stitches Out

Took the circus to get Abby's stitches out. I am grateful things went as well as they did after her incident with the fan. On an unrelated note- Heaven help anyone with twin five year old boys. 

Girls' Night

We have worked hard this morning cleaning and then decorating for Halloween. I feel like I should have a sign out during all holidays saying, "sponsored by Grandma Anne." She is crazy talented and extremely generous. Holidays at our home are always extra fun because of all the different things my mom has made and given to us over the years.

Tonight the girls and I went to dinner before attending a women's conference for our church. We finished dinner and had 45 minutes before we needed to be at the chapel. We started driving and were talking about how to fill our time when we passed a salon and thought why not?! The girls are getting their first ever real pedicures- massage chair and all. Gosh I love them so much. 

Sienna & Sadie in the Kitchen

For a long time my girls have talked about opening a restaurant together. We love watching cooking shows together and lately they have started showing more interest in being involved in the kitchen. Sadie made her yummy breakfast and then I had Sienna and Sadie make dinner all by themselves. They made one of their favorite meals, chicken enchiladas with green enchilada sauce.

Fluffy

Tanner got to bring his class's pet Fluffy home with him for the night. He was so proud and excited. He quickly jumped in the car and buckled them both up. I love how much this kid loves life and gets excited about the little things. 

Toughest Girl I Know

Abby is simply the toughest kid I know. Today I heard a thud and then Tanner yelled that Abby got hit by their ceiling fan. I ran upstairs to find her sitting on Tanner's top bunk with her face covered in blood. (I withheld sharing the picture with the world, but I decided to keep it in the book so she could see it when she was older.) She was screaming and I was running different scenarios through my head. I got her down from the bed, sent a picture to Matt, and told him to "come home now!" After I cleaned her up I realized it was a fairly small gash and nothing too urgent. My friend convinced me that stitches were a good idea though so in we went. Abby screamed for a few minutes when she got hit, but once she stopped she was done. She stared down stitches like she did her shots without making much of a sound let alone shedding any tears. Instead we talked of the bubblegum we were going to choose out. She had people in awe and laughing the entire time. I felt sick watching it and remember her delivery being easier, but she was a champ. We are so lucky it wasn't any worse than two stitches and a little glue.

Slow Down Little One

 Her post nap crazy hair, her insisting she sits in a normal chair, her complete and utter refusal to let me help feed her, her silly sounds she makes with every bite, her little songs between mouthfuls... This girl is killing me. She is so much fun and I love watching her grow up. I can't handle the thought of not having a "baby" in the house though, so I really need her to slow down.

 

Weekend Fun

I've been looking forward to this past weekend for a long time. Not because anything was going on, but because we had NOTHING going on. That isn't really true. The kids had soccer games, bday parties, our women's conference, etc., but Matt and I were able to spend the good portion of three days together. We got a lot done around the house, played catch, went to lunch with the little girls, cheered our kids on, went to another Drive-In, even slept in a bit, went to church, and just hung out. It was a perfect weekend and I'm counting down until the next.

It's Hot Out

Enjoying the park with friends and trying not to melt. It's 93 degrees and still climbing. Ava is so much fun and as we've said before, she runs the house. She can get any of us to do about anything she wants. She has even taken over my bed. She starts in her own bed (pack n play) each night, but 90% of the time she ends up in bed with me and Matt. I think she knows she is the baby and also knows I'm weak and want to hang onto having a baby as long as possible.

I Love Walking to School

We are in our car so little anymore. We walk to and from school. Often after dropping the kids off to school, Ava and I continue walking for an hour or two and then head back to get Tanner. It is so nice living so close to the school and being able to get to my kids so easily and quickly. I really don't think I'll ever get over the joy and shock of me having five kids. I love the phase of my life and am trying to enjoy every little thing. It is so fun having some big kids and some little kids. Matt and I have started playing a lot of card games and different things with the older kids, but we all still get to enjoy the joy and excitement little kids bring into our home. I wish I could freeze them all in their current stages and stay this way a lot longer.

Future Soccer Star

I take a lot of pictures and sometimes there isn't much to say about them. I have to keep them though because they are too cute and fun. Ava loves pretending she is a big kid too and is right behind her siblings in all they do.

Cotton Candy with Dawn

I am so grateful for the people in my kids' life that are willing and choose to give them their time and attention. Today my neighbor Dawn asked if she could make cotton candy with them.  I think the kids were okay with that plan.
