“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.”

Sadie at 2 Weeks

This morning we went to Sadie's two week appointment. I was so happy to find out that she didn't need to get any shots today. It was mainly just a weight check and for the doctor to make sure things were looking good. When I took her in a few days after being born she weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and they wanted to see her back to her birth weight (7 lbs 12 oz) by today's appointment. I was shocked when they weighed her because she gained over a pound and now weighs 8 lbs 11 oz and is 20.5 inches long.
.
Thanks Kiera for taking Sienna at the last second so she didn't have to go to the doctor. Sienna has been dying to see Audrey. Last night Matt had 2 softball games and when Sienna saw Audrey at the park there was nothing I could do to keep her attention. The girls had a blast chasing each other around and ignoring their mothers. It is so fun that I have transitioned into the softball/park mommy instead of being the one of the kids running around or playing myself. I am anxious for the fall though- Matt's work is possibly going to do another coed team that I get to play on.

Empty House

What a fun couple weeks we've had. So many people have come to visit and stay with us. My mom was able to stay for 2 full weeks and went home last Saturday. My sister drove from Alabama and stayed for a couple days with her girls, and one of my best friends flew out for 5 days. We had so much fun with everyone and miss them already. Sienna doesn't know what to do now that it is only me here to entertain her again throughout the day. We're having fun and the house is looking good! Thanks everyone for coming out to see us. We're looking forward to the next get together. Sienna still goes into the guest room looking for you.
.
Picture with Grandma Anne before she went home. Isn't she pretty? Thanks mom for everything. Sienna misses you and had a hard time when you went home. We are so excited we get to see you again in only a couple months.

Sienna played in Sadie's car seat forever yesterday. She uses it as a rocking chair and thinks it is so funny when she sits in it.

Birth Announcement Pictures

Taking pictures of a 16 month old is everything but easy. Sienna was so happy before we got to our friend's house for pictures but as soon as we walked into her studio and Sienna saw all of the lights, props, and cameras she got very scared. She eventually warmed up to being there but never to taking pictures with Sadie. Oh well, I went to get cute pictures of Sadie for her birth announcement and that we did. Here are some of the good, bad, and awkward.
.
I love this pretty white dress.

With some help from her big sister, Sadie was awake for a lot of her pictures. I love that we got some with her sleeping and also some with her eyes open.

Yes, Sienna is about to hit Sadie.

Kissing Sadie's piggies.

Sienna loves holding Sadie.

Both girls are starting to lose interest in this pose.

Not a fan of these kind of pictures so much but Sadie has cute little fingers.

Look at her perfect feet.

This is probably my favorite.

Sleeping beauty.

Fun flowers.

She is so tiny, I love it.

A little different but kind of fun to have.

We had the cutest outfit for Sienna. This is pretty much the first time in her life that she is wearing matching shoes and I love her dress... but it was all a big waste of time for these pictures. At least we got some funny shots of them together. Sienna is always shoving the binkie in Sadie's mouth.

She did it, she gave her sister a kiss!

\No joke, right after this picture Sienna snapped Sadie's bow like a rubber band. It was hilarious.

Sadie needed one more kiss before we were done. I love my girls. They are so much fun. Sadie already pulls some of the same facial expressions as Sienna. Sienna keeps us laughing and is getting better with Sadie every day. She always wants to help out and hold her. She was even trying to put a diaper on her yesterday.

Surprise Visit

I know I added some pictures yesterday but we have so much to show. My sister and her two girls decided to come and visit. They took off within minutes of getting off the phone with us to start their drive from Alabama and made it safely at about 4:30 this morning. The girls woke up so excited to see their cousins and have already started to party. I am so glad that Ella was so determined to see her new baby cousin and convinced her mom to make a 10 hour drive with two kiddos in the middle of the night. Ella got to see Sadie when they got here and again this morning when we got up. She said, "I get to see her again and I just love it."
.
Enjoy the dance party. We have a full house and we're loving it. Emily is coming to join the fun on Wednesday.

What little balls of energy.

Grandma got Sienna a little pool and she loves it. Matt really liked it too, we couldn't get him out of it.

I just can't get over how big Sienna seems to me now after having another itty bitty at home. I love my girls.

We just missed a huge smile but here is the last of it.

My Sienna is So Smart

This week has been so much fun. I love watching every little thing that Sadie does. It makes me sad that I don't remember anything from the first week of Sienna's life except for sleeping with pillows over my head and not being able to do anything. What a different experience this has been for all of us. Sienna continues to do better with Sadie every day and loves giving her kisses.
.
Isn't that impressive? My mom and I would trace Sienna's hand and now she does it herself.

She draws in between every finger. When she is done it is just a bunch of scribbles but I am still impressed. She even holds the pen correctly.

Sienna loves to sit in the fridge. Next we'll find my mom sitting in the fridge. She hates the heat. She even changed my clock to sing Christmas music as a joke to see if it would make it any cooler in the house.

So comfy. Isn't she just precious?

She is so cuddly.

Sienna had a lot of fun with her daddy yesterday. They went shopping together and then stopped to get some french fries and a drink. When they came home it was play time.

If you look closely, you can see Sienna laughing. She loves goofing around with Matt.

Sisters

Here are some more pictures of the girls. Sienna had a rough first day with Sadie and didn't want anything to do with her. She would say, "Nooooooo" anytime we tried to get her to give kisses or hold her. The past couple days have gone much better. Sienna hasn't been fussy or territorial at all. She loves "baby" and tries to help out with everything. I think I will be afraid to leave the room for a long time still but things are getting much better. We are having so much fun.
.
Sadie had a doctor appointment today just to check her weight, etc to see how she is doing. Things are looking great so far. She has gained 4 oz since leaving the hospital so that made me happy and stop worrying about if she is eating enough. She only has 4 oz more to gain to be back at her birth weight by her 2 week appointment. I can't believe that I thought a 7lb 12oz baby was big because she is so tiny. I don't know how Sienna weighed a full pound less. I don't know where Sadie could afford to lose any weight. I am also taking back all the times that I have said, "I'm ready for some boys" because I love my girls. It will be fun to have boys but I am fine with more girls too.
.
I'm sorry this is so blurry but I had to post it. This is a picture of Sienna at a friend's birthday party last week. It was cowboy/cowgirl themed and we had such a great time. I don't know why all my pictures came out so blurry though.

Sienna getting her hair done by grandma.

"Sienna, where are Sadie's piggies?" Sienna loves tickling Sadie's feet and pointing to her eyes.

We love Grandma Anne. Sienna is having so much fun with grandma and loves to tease her.

Sienna finally held Sadie without pushing her away. She wraps her arms around her neck and chest trying to hold her, gives her a kiss, and then lets go. It is pretty sweet.

Sadie got a new bouncer today which we love. It can sit flat and hold her as a cradle type thing or recline like a regular bouncer.

Truly Blessed

Sadie Adrianne joined our family Sunday afternoon at 12:46. What a wonderful day we had. I woke up early Sunday morning to some pretty consistent contractions. I was pretty sure that my body was getting ready to have a baby so I got Matt up. He went and filled our car for my mom, watered the lawn, and we both showered and got ready. My contractions were getting closer and stronger so we decided to go to the hospital. We dropped Sienna off to play with Audrey and much thanks to Kiera and James for watching her all day. I was already to a 4 when I got to the hospital and not too much longer a 7. I then received an epidural and my doctor broke my water about an hour after that. Things went very quick after my water was broken. I only had to push literally 3 times. In fact, the nurse told me to stop pushing because the doctor wasn't in the room yet. The doctor came in, one push, and Sadie came out.
.
Isn't she beautiful? She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and measured 19 3/4 inches long.
.

Happy Family

No spinal headache! Can't you tell by the smile on my face? I have felt so great. It was so nice to be able to go to the bathroom, shower, and walk around myself. The nurses were shocked to see me walking around within a couple hours of having Sadie but I had so much energy. I even took phone calls while getting stitched up and I wouldn't let them push me around in a wheel chair.
.

Did I mention that my mom arrived to the hospital 14 minutes after delivery? Kiera dropped her off at the hospital straight from the airport and she walked up to the room right as they were cleaning Sadie and stitching me up. Talk about perfect timing.

Daddy and his girls. Sienna is so uncomfortable around doctors and it took her a little while to warm up to being at the hospital. She got to spend the past couple days at home with grandma.

Beautiful Sadie. She really looks like a chubbier version of Sienna.

Proud Daddy

Look at that hair. She looks so much like Sienna did as a baby but with very dark hair and much more of it. Sadie also has very long fingernails and has managed to scrape up her face a little bit. Sadie is an amazing eater and has nursed so well. We are so happy to be home. We were ready to go yesterday morning but our pediatrician likes the babies to stay at least 36 hours which was midnight so we had to stay until this morning. We all got up early this morning to get showered and ready to come home. Although we were ready we had to hang out for a few hours until my doctor came in and released me. We had such a beautiful experience at the hospital. Labor and delivery went so well and Sadie is extremely healthy. We were even able to sneak Sienna over to the other side of the hospital to see Jamie with the help of a nurse over riding the alarms Sadie would set off with her wrist band. Now we are home together with Sienna and grandma. It's all been puppies and rainbows!

This is Sienna at the hosptial. They do have a lot of similarities. Sienna's hair was and still is a very dark auburn red color when Sadie's is black. Sadie is also a full pound heavier than Sienna and they have different noses.

Matt and I are so blessed and grateful for our family. We wanted to thank everyone that has helped us out. Especially grandma for making perfect timing for the second year in a row and James and Kiera for watching Sienna and helping my mom get to us at the hospital. We can't wait to see the rest of our family and friends.

Sienna and Audrey

Sienna has been spoiled with Audrey time lately. We have done something with the Mathis Family every night for a week now and surprise- we'll be seeing them again tonight. Sienna and Audrey are so cute together and actually play really well too.
.
Watching a movie while the adults played games. They always have to sit super close to each other. Even at the grocery store the other day they kept reaching for each other trying to do "high 5" or something.

Aren't they cute? They are always copying each other and teaching each other bad habits. It is so much fun watching them together. They will randomly just poke each other and just start laughing hysterically.

Princess Sienna

What a weekend. We had such a great 4th of July and we were sad when it ended. We spent late nights with friends Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The weekend was packed full of lots of food and games. I think we wore Sienna out a little bit.
.
Sienna at a friend's birthday party last week. She made such a cute little princess.

Sienna trying not to fall asleep at the restaurant before our friends showed up Saturday night. Sienna was exhausted from all of the previous activities throughout the day. We went to the church for our wards 4th of July breakfast, shopping, walking around the town center, and then to an early dinner.

Sienna has developed a recent fascination with blankets. She doesn't have a specific one that she gravitates to. She likes them so much she has recently started eating them. She is constantly opening her dresser drawer and pulling out all of the blankets that she can reach. We have at least 5 blankets scattered around the house daily.

She made it through dinner but not much more. Matt looked back to see if Sienna had fallen asleep on the way home from dinner and started laughing. This is what I turned around to find. Sienna only slept for a few minutes and found a new burst of energy to stay up and play with Audrey. I wish I had pictures of those two from the weekend. They were both so tired and delirious. They were being so funny and laughing over the smallest little things. Sienna loves Audrey and anytime she hears someone at the door or we leave to go somewhere she gets so excited and starts shouting, "Audee, Drew, Audee, Drew." We love the Mathis family!

Big Baby

***I just have to respond to all of your comments, they made me laugh. I know doctors are always wrong on guessing the weight but my doctor estimated Sienna's weight the day I went into labor and was right on. I think I'll be okay with a bigger baby and if she is, I'm hoping that nursing and sleeping will come a lot more natural for both of us. I am enjoying having my special Sienna time too, we went shopping and to lunch today!***
.
The main reason I have wanted to have Sadie early is so I could deliver another small baby. Too late for that. The doctor told me today that she probably weighs about 7 lbs right now. I know that isn't a big baby but Sienna only weighed 6 lbs 11 oz and was one week early. I still have 2.5 weeks until my due date and Sadie already weighs 7 pounds. I am the exact same size to the pound that I was with Sienna at this point in my pregnancy. Now all I can think about is how big this baby is going to be. I am still only dilated to a 1 so we'll see how much longer we have until we are parents of two. The baby is healthy, I am healthy, so why did I come home a little down? I guess I am the big baby today.
.
Although I am pathetic and sad that I haven't progressed any further, tonight should be a lot of fun. Matt won a competition at work last month so his boss is taking us to Silver Fox for dinner. It is one of those delicious steak houses that we would very rarely pay to eat at ourselves. Thanks TWG! I love steak.
