“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out.”

Stuck at Home

The past couple days have been horrible outside. We had an ice storm yesterday and early this morning so the girls and I have stayed inside for the most part. Matt went to the airport last night to head to Utah for work. His flight was supposed to leave at 9:30. He called me at about 12:30 this morning letting me know that after sitting on the plane for a few hours his flight was canceled. The roads were so bad that he didn't want to drive home so he went with his co-worker Logan to his house that is closer to the airport. Their flight was rescheduled for 7:30 but I talked to him at 8:30 and he was still sitting on the plane waiting to take off. The BYU career fair has already started. I am hoping that they get there in time to do some recruiting so this wasn't all a complete waste of time that Matt could have been working towards his monthly goal. I am just grateful that he is safe and avoided all of the accidents last night.
.
Sadie has moved up to the booster seat and loves it. Sienna and Sadie just laugh at each other the whole time while sitting down to eat.
.
Sienna gets to sit at the big table now.

.
Sadie has been crawling a little bit here and there for over a month but this morning she just took off. It still catches me off guard when I see her take off towards something.

Tricia and Joci have also been stuck at home due to the weather but luckily they only live a few houses down the street. Sienna and Joci were celebrating after not being able to see each other yesterday.

Mavericks Cake

Yesterday was our good friend Brandon's birthday. Sienna and I were so excited to make him a cake. He is a huge Mavericks fan so we made him a cake that resembles their logo. I was satisfied with how the cake turned out and Brandon seemed to love it. A lot of people have a hard time telling what it is but I am happy because I have zero artistic ability when it comes to drawing.
.
This cake looks better from a distance or when looking at it from an angle.

Dallas Mavericks Logo - A silver and white horse head on a blue basketball

Here is a picture of the logo that I tried to copy.
.
I really like the blue I made. It was a fun cake to experiment with and try new techniques.

Sienna's new hairdo for church - 2 little piggies in the back.
.
Sienna had lunch with her good buddy Joci today. I love their facial expressions here. Yes, Sienna is just eating the ketchup with her finger. I promise Sadie was with us all day too and she looks so adorable today. I need to take more pictures of that girl!

Some Fun Conversations with Sienna from Yesterday and Today

Me on the way home from church: "Sienna, can you sing the snowman song for the Sisters?"
Sienna: "Maybe later"
.
Sienna as she set her puppy in the corner:
"Puppy, sit in the corner"
"Puppy, SIT DOWN"
"You're in timeout"
"Puppy, don't move"
"Sit down for 1 minute!"
(Do I really sound like this?)
Sienna getting the puppy out of the corner: "I love you puppy"
.
Sienna couldn't find her blankets this morning and ran into her room where I was and said, "Mommy, may I please have my blankets back?"

Sienna on the way to deliver the cake this morning: "Daddy, be nice to Sienna!" (Matt was NOT in the car with us)
Me: "Sienna, daddy is nice to Sienna."

Sienna: "Daddy's nice to Sienna?"
Me: "Yes, Daddy is very nice to Sienna."
Sienna: "Daddy hold Sienna?"
Me: "Yes, Daddy loves to hold Sienna."
Sienna: "Daddy loves Sienna, Daddy no hold Sadie anymore?" I couldn't help but laugh.
..
Sienna after Matt walked us out to the van: "I love my daddy SO much!" I wish Matt would have heard that.
.
Sienna when she is upset with me: "Mommy, Stop it! Don't do that." Even though it is sassy and I don't really appreciate that, it usually makes me smile because of her cute little voice.
.
Sienna has been so sweet lately. She speaks clearer and in more detail every day. She always makes me smile with the silly things she says. Today on the way into work she was quizzing me on what different animals say. One of my favorites is when she talks to a bird because she is always very concerned when she sees a bird sitting on a tree or something and says, "oh no, birdie fall down."

Best of Buds

Sienna is Papa's shadow. She eats breakfast with him in the morning, makes him read to her, makes him sing for her and is constantly running around the house looking for him. Yesterday was 80 degrees and gorgeous so Dan and I took the girls to the park and then played tennis.
.

Swings are still Sienna's favorite thing to do at the park..

I love that Sadie can swing with Sienna now and she loves it too.

She started doing this new thing with her tongue where she curls it up. It is so cute.

This is the face Sienna made when I told her not to smile. She is the queen of funny facial expressions. She loves to open her mouth wide open and close her eyes as tight as she can at the same time.
.
This wasn't the easiest slide for papa to go down but he did it anyway because Sienna asked him to.
.
We tried to get Sienna to go down by herself but she turned to Dan and said, "Papa, hold Sienna" and papa does anything Sienna wants.

Best of buds.

Sadie wanted a turn too but she is brave enough to go by herself.

Papa and his girls. Sienna is doing one of her facial expressions where she closes her eyes super tight.

When Papa Comes to Town

Sienna woke up yesterday morning to Papa, Uncle Bryan and Aunt Allie in the house. She was so excited to see Papa and Allie. Warming up to Uncle Bryan took a little while but now they are buds. We spent the day yesterday moving Bryan and Allie into their house. We are so happy they are here with us.
.
Sienna wanted Papa to color with her first thing this morning.
.
Sadie wasn't going to be left out.

The girls playing at Bryan and Allie's house.

Sienna has already figured out that if mommy says no she can ask Papa.

Sadie working on crawling.

She can crawl, it is just typically backwards. She always gets stuck behind or under things. After rolling around for a minute, she made her way between the chair and wall.

Joci taking Sienna for a ride through her kitchen the other day.

Sadie getting ready for some sweet potatoes. She loved them.

She loves wearing my shoes and walking around the house.

Weekend Pictures

We had a really fun weekend together. It was nicer weather than we've had in a little while and it felt great to be outside. A good friend of ours is going to Columbia for three months and so we all got together for dinner and games before he leaves.
.
On of the first pictures of just the two of us in a long time. I know we look young, but do we look that young? This weekend I went to do a walk through on our brother's house and when I walked into the office to grab his key, a lady that was buying a house herself asked me if I was an adult. I let the office manager answer for me because explaining that I am 22, have been married 4 years, and have 2 girls usually makes them freak out a little more.
.
Leaving the restaurant.

All of us at Joe T's.

Sadie on the way to church.

Sienna running away from daddy. I was trying to curl her hair yesterday and she said, "Mom, I'm freaking out!" Matt and I were laughing so hard.

Sienna's new favorite game is running between our legs.

Sienna was stretching her shirt out with her feet. I didn't do much about it because the shirt is already falling apart. I asked her to stop a few times but then just ignored it.
.
A few minutes later, Sienna started whining and saying, "stuck. help. stuck." Her foot had slipped and went through her neck hole. She was very upset and confused but I thought it was hilarious. Serves her right for not listening.
.This is Sister Sermon and Sister Johnston. Matt and I feed the sisters every Sunday and then I go out with them to appointments for 2-3 hours and drive them home. They need the help getting around but it has been a great opportunity for me. We have had a few really special experiences together where we have felt the spirit so strongly and they have strengthened my testimony. I won't go into depth about it on my blog but I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be with the Sisters weekly and for the blessings that have come from serving with them. I am also very grateful to Matt for being so supportive and cleaning up dinner and putting the girls to bed every Sunday while I go out.

Is She Really Six Months Already?

The girls and I had a fun day yesterday. Our morning started off with Sadie's six month appointment and ended with a lot of baking, decorating and cleaning.
Sadie's Six Month Stats
Weight: 14 lbs 14 oz - 25%
Length: 26 inches 50-75%
Head: 17.5 90-95%
This is the link to when Sienna was 6 months old. It is fun looking back because Sadie seems to be doing the exact same things at this point.

I made a cake for our friend Kelly's birthday at work.
.

This cake is so sloppy but it tastes good. Sienna wanted to make Matt a cake and we had run out of time so we decorated it in under 5 minutes.

Sienna was in a very good mood yesterday so I let her stay up and not take a nap. It caught up with her by late afternoon and finally around six she fell asleep in the middle of the floor.

Sadie took advantage of Sienna being defenseless.

Background Music on Blogs

I just thought I would share the fact that I HATE music on blogs and I know I'm not the only one.

Taking a Break From Being Sick

The girls have been fighting a cold lately so I have kept them inside away from friends. I decided to take the girls to a play date today and let them get out and run around. They had so much fun and now it is back to house arrest because Aunt Allie and Uncle Bryan are moving out here next week and they're bringing Papa with them for a few days. Nana is coming the week after. We have to be healthy for grandma and grandpa!!!
.
Sienna loves Sadie and is always trying to protect her. If one of Sienna's friends starts to touch or play near Sadie, Sienna gets very upset and says, "No, my Sadie. Leave Sadie alone."

This past weekend Matt and I tried a diner in Haltom City. It was pretty good but we agreed that next time we go we're going to make sure there are a lot more people there. Our waitress kept coming to our table and just stood there watching us eat. It was pretty awkward. They had a delicious banana split though and Sienna enjoyed eating the hot fudge that was drizzled all over the plate.

Today the girls and I went to Let's Jump for our ward's play date. It is a bounce house with a bunch of slides and obstacle courses. Sienna couldn't care less about the slides. She just wanted to play with the balls. The best part about this is that it was FREE. Kids under 2 don't have to pay and they don't make the adults pay either.

Joci was unable to make it to the bounce house this morning so we picked up Happy Meals on our way home and went to her house for a quick visit. Yesterday, Sienna got very upset with me because I wouldn't let her go play with Joci and Tricia. She walked the to front door saying, "Come on, come on. Mommy, play outside with Tricia and Joci." I am very anxious for the weather to stop being so up and down so the girls can get better and play more. We're having fun at home though. I'm not much of a hermit but it has been nice having an excuse to stay home and play with the girls. I even made homemade rolls Monday for the first time and they turned out great!

Emily Esther

No, I am not pregnant and naming my baby Emily Esther. Emily is one of my best friends from Utah that is quite upset learning that I won't be visiting any time soon. As badly as I want to see everyone in Utah, I have a million reasons why our trip in February just wasn't a good idea. On the other hand, Emily has a million and one reasons why we should go to Utah. It is looking like Em and her boys are just going to have to come to Texas and deal with the unbearable heat in June for a couple weeks. Here are a couple pictures of the two of us that I found today that made me laugh. Emily, I vote that next time we're together we take a picture when both of us are showered and looking good (and not pregnant)!
.
Meet chubby Emily and chubbier Karin. I was 7 months prego with Sienna and Em was 5 months prego with Max.
.
This would be super skinny, showered and gorgeous Emily with not so showered and almost skinny Karin. (Em, we could use some good fake tanner ha ha)!

My Little Girl

It doesn't seem like that long ago that Sienna was born into our family. Now she is running around and speaking in full sentences. I can't believe my little girl is going to be two in just a few months. Sienna, you are such a special part of my life. You make me laugh every day. You are the best big sister and take such good care of Sadie. You are one of the smartest little girls I have ever met and more importantly one of the sweetest. I love you very much!

Happy New Year!
