Our Morning

This morning I decided to let Sienna stay home from school. It will be hard to say no if she ever asks again because she was SO helpful. I did laundry and cleaned while she read to and entertained Abby. We were able to paint, read, play games, play barbies, work on math, and just hang out together. She is so helpful and I love having her around. Sadie still went to school but she was around this morning to paint before she had to leave. I had so much fun doing math homework with Sienna. I bought a set of 10 blocks and I would give Sienna a number. She would then make the number with the least amount of blocks possible. Then I asked her to break it up for me on paper. It amazes me to watch how quickly she picks things up. Just on our third problem, I gave her the number 1,324 and she quickly wrote out 1000+300+20+4= 1,324. Then I would give her a bunch of blocks and she would trade them into fewer bigger blocks. The best part about it all is that she was having fun and got some one on one time with me. I really want my kids to be fluent with numbers and know how they work. It is something that I did well with growing up, and my kids both excelled in at their last schools. Sadie was one of two students working with number parts (knowing all the different ways you can build a number) up to "7" before we moved, and Sienna had math homework every week. Neither of them have come home with homework once since moving here, so we're trying to fill in the gaps ourselves at home. One of my biggest fears with all of our moving around is that my kids' education will suffer. I am not too stressed about it here. Their school is great and we've all enjoyed it. The kids love going, and we chose this house because the school is ranked 12 out of 600. They have a lot of fun at school doing multiple art projects, plays, and even get to do swimming lessons and other fun things during class. I know they work on writing and math too, but not as much as their last school, and if they'll do it with me at home then that is good enough for me.

Glad she still knows how to be a kid and goof around. Sometimes I mistake her for an adult because of how responsible and helpful she is.

Now that we have our camera, I thought I'd add a picture of our house. The fact that you can see our grass is a big deal too. This is the first time we've seen it in the month we've lived here. We didn't know if our grass was elevated or we really had that much snow. Apparently, there was that much snow left over from their awful winter.

These two make quite the team. They are good buddies and are currently playing hide n' seek together while the girls are playing upstairs. They both have more personality than you would expect to fit in such tiny bodies. Watching them together is about one best things ever.
